On July, 13th, Dr. Rodolfo Hernández officially announced his candidacy to the presidency, represented by the Republican Social Christian party, founded by former President Rafael Ángel Calderón.
The doctor delivered the receipt of his payment for the amount of 3 million colones for said purpose, which came from “own resources and donors”.
I come to serve the country as I have done all my life. I return for the Presidency. People know me and my work,”
said Hernández, who also mentioned he was not surprised by the departure of Miguel Carabaguíaz, executive president of the Instituto Costarricense de Ferrocarriles (Incofer), who gave his commitment to the party Unidad Social Cristiana (PUSC).
The doctor said he learned from the past to be politically distrusting after he felt cornered and compelled to resign as a candidate from the PUSC in October, 2013.
