Rousseff’s deposition?

On August 2nd, senator Antonio Anastasia, examining magistrate against Brazilian, suspended President Dilma Rousseff, recommended that the president is deposed for “violating the Constitution”.

The report, presented to the Senate’s committee in charge of the process, pointed out “full reasons” to depose president Rousseff, who is responsible for serious irregularities in the management of the covernment budget.

The report has 441 pages and states that tax offenses attributed to Rouseeff represent a violation of the Constitution and they are so serious that, by law, the punishment is deposition.

Rousseff was suspended from her duties on May 12th, when the Senate set up her political trial, and from that moment, she was substituted by vice president Michel Temer, who, if destituted, will complete her term expiring on January 1st, 2019.

The president is responsible for serious irregularities in the management of budgets, contract loans for the government with public banks and for issuing decrees without proper permission of Congress. All of these are banned by Brazilian law.

The report states that these actions are directly linked to Brazilian economy’s severe crisis, which in 2015 had a fall of 3.8% and it is expected that it falls once again this year.

The report will be discussed today and voted on Thursday.
