With the endorsement of the Comptroller’s Office of the trust to expand San José-San Ramón highway, the Bank of Costa Rica and authorities from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport can now make this project real.
According to minister of Communications Mauricio Herrera, it will start as soon as possible. In addition, he said that San José-San Ramón Road and its surrounding streets are a key work for the development of the country and the communities of the West. The Government is committed to making this project as advanced as possible; That is why, the minister thanked the General Comptroller’s endorsement, who will be assisted by CONAVI authorities to start the work.
The letter issued by the Comptroller General of the Republic specifies that the works must include the following modifications:
1. General Cañas-stretch 1 (from La Sabana to Monumento del Agua): it must have three lanes and guardrails per direction.
2. General Cañas-section 2 (from Monumento del Agua until Juan Santamaría Airport): it must have four lanes and guardrails per direction.
3. Bernardo Soto section (from Juan Santamaría Airport to San Ramón): it must have two lanes and guardrails per direction.
4. Río Segundo stretch (from Río Segundo de Alajuela to San Antonio de Belén): it must have two lanes of ring and guardrails per direction.
5. Sarchí: road that directly connects Bernardo Soto highway to Valverde Vega, with at least one lane and guardrails per direction.
6. Heredia connection: to connect General Cañas highway (route No. 1) with route number 3 through routes number 171, from Castella to Heredia, and from Firestone to San Joaquín de Flores, these shall have at least two lanes and guardrails per direction.
