This Saturday, hundreds of people demonstrated against hatred and the xenophobic events of last weekend, calling for peace and solidarity with the Nicaraguans who flee their country and the violent internal crisis in that nation.
At 10:00 a.m. two groups of protesters left, from the University of Costa Rica (UCR) in San Pedro de Montes de Oca and from La Merced Park, in downtown San José. The meeting point of both groups was Plaza de la Democracia.
During the demonstration, participants shouted slogans of union, support, collaboration, and against the violation of the human rights of migrants from any country, especially people who seek refuge, because their lives are in danger in their native country. The message is clear: No to xenophobia.
With banners, white shirts, flags of different countries, groups hundreds of people walked different streets of the capital to reach the same meeting point.
This demonstration was organized through social networks, after the call from universities, different professional associations, companies, and social institutions.
