San Juan de Dios and Calderón Guardia hospitals urgently need blood donors

Calderón Guardia and San Juan de Dios hospitals need blood of all types, especially 0 positive, to be able to carry on with pending surgeries. According to information from the medical centers, in recent days they have performed several procedures that required large amounts of blood and that caused the reservations to decrease considerably.

In the case of Calderón Guardia, donors will be received from:
-Monday through Thursday and Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
-Fridays from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

In the case of San Juan de Dios, the opening hours are:
-Monday to Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
-Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
-Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The requirements to be a blood donor are:
-Being between 18 and the 60 years old.
-Weighing more than 50 kilos.
-Having a light breakfast (no fatty or dairy products such as cheeses, margarines, butter, custard, sausages).
-Drinking plenty of fluids.
-Having an update ID or residence card.
-Being healthy.
-Not being pregnant.
-Not having suffered hepatitis after turning 11 years old.
-Not having consumed alcohol in the last 24 hours.
-Having waited at least three months since the last blood donation.
