Sanitary Sewer Improvements Fast Forward

The Costa Rican Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (AyA) made progress with more than 45 kilometers of sanitary pipeline in 11 cantons of the Metropolitan Area.

The works started a little more than a year ago and to date they have finished in places like Coronado, Moravia, Curridabat and Granadilla.

The project aims to improve the discharge of wastewater to the sanitary sewer network and thus prevent them from ending up in rivers and seas.

The process includes the excavation and placement of the pipeline, the compaction of the land and the replacement of the asphalt.

The works are financed with a loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Inter-American Development Bank.
