Scammers are posing as IMAS officials

The Joint Institute of Social Assistance (IMAS) alerts the population that unscrupulous people have been posing as officials of the Institute, in order to commit an attempt of fraud.

Through the Regional Area of Social Development (ARDS) Chorotega, information was received from the Chamber of Livestock Breeders of Liberia, about a person who pretended to be a public official, as general purchasing manager of the institution, to acquire work tools “to be delivered to families that qualify for the Bridge to Development Strategy.”

The entity clarified that every official must be properly identified and carry a badge. Additionally, official emails are identified by the sole and official domain @imas.go.cr ; therefore, no mail of a commercial nature should be assumed as institutional.

IMAS calls on private companies and the community in general, before any doubt about the identity of officials or any information about it, go to the corresponding Regional Social Development Area, for due attention,”

reported the entity.

The institution has 10 regional areas, located in Cristo Rey, Barrio Amón, downtown Alajuela, Cartago and Heredia, Liberia, Puntarenas, San Carlos, Pérez Zeledón and Limón.
