A sea turtle (Lepidochelys kempii) was spared from dying trapped in a fishing net irresponsibly placed by some fishermen in the waters of Golfo Dulce, in the South Pacific of the country.
The animal was rescued by officers of the Golfito Coast Guard Station when they were conducting a patrol to prevent drug trafficking and environmental crimes in the area.
The reptile had a rope entangled in almost all its body, which did not allow it to move freely. Therefore, the Coast Guard proceeded to cut off the rope and verify that the animal was in good health conditions.
The officers later released the turtle.
