Security officials deny shooting against Vice President Fallas

On Tuesday, security officials denied that the vehicle in which Vice President Helio Fallas was traveling was involved in a shooting that occurred on Monday in Montes de Oca and ensured that Fallas’ life was never in danger.

The Public Force denies that the Vice President of the Republic, Mr. Helio Fallas Venegas, traveled in a car in which several escorts repelled a subject who allegedly attempted to assault them,”

reported the Ministry of Public Security.

The Vice President’s life was never in danger. We categorically deny that there was a forcible attack against Mr. Fallas,”

said the Ministry of Security in a press release.

For its part, the preliminary information that the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) handles is that yesterday, in the vicinity of the Roosevelt Square, there was an attempt of assault and the security agents of Fallas tried to prevent it.

Apparently a guy was going to assault a pedestrian and the trustees of the Vice President were nearby. The attack was not directed towards the vice president, but it was close to the house where he lives and they only intervened to avoid the assault. The case is still being investigated,”

said Marisel Rodríguez, a spokeswoman for the OIJ.
