Semana U has started at the UCR! Be part of it!

Yesterday, the traditional University Week in the University of Costa Rica started. They include lots of cultural activities, sports, spaces for reflection, concerts and fairs.

This time, the Student Movement decided to focus its struggle in the search of peace and the construction of a society that uses dialogue as a mechanism to stop any kind of violence.

The traditional celebration of Semana U opened with a “Walk for Peace”, which was held at 9:30 am from Social Sciences School and ended at 11:00 am with a Electrizarte and Malpaís concert, at the Economics School.

During the activity, the Student Movement will also pay homage to those UCR students who lost their lives, due to different acts of violence. Such is the case of the Students burned during the 80’s or the students who are under investigation due to the demonstrations on November 8th, 2012 .

Among the initiatives that will remain open to the public stand out: the concerts with national bands in the Economic Sciences Park, the Agronomic Fair and the Zootechnics Yard in the agroalimentary Sciences school; The Fair of Handicrafts at Engineering School, Paint Ball behind the student dining room, the Anatomy Fair, Sports Tournaments in sports facilities, among other daily activities, such as the “World Art Day” which will be celebrated from 1:00 pm on the Freedom of Speech Square.

On Wednesday, the Association of Dental Science Students will hold the Health Fair from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm in the parking lot of their school. On Thursday, students of the Human Movement Science School will carry out a competition that mixes the marathon with swimming. It it called Moronado and it will take place at 11:00 am at the Sports Facilities.
