Shelter population decreases

The last report of the National Commission of Emergencies (CNE) indicates that the number of people in shelters was reduced to 86.

These citizens are distributed in five temporary shelters in Paquera (2), Cariillo (1), Santa Cruz (1), and Paraíso de Cartago (1).

According to Sigifredo Pérez, from CNE Operations, they are investing in road work to repair the damages caused by heavy downpours. They are also providing assistance to affected families, especially in the districts of the Central Canton of Puntarenas: Paquera, Cóbano and Lepanto.

The CNE is also traveling to the three islands of the Gulf of Nicoya (Chira, Venado and Caballo) to deliver food rations.

At the moment the yellow alert remains in Paquera, Nandayure, Nicoya, Carrillo, Hojancha and Santa Cruz.
