Silvia Sánchez was vice president of the Congress for an hour and a half

Silvia Sánchez Venegas, legislator from the National Liberation Party, cherished the vice-presidency of Congress for 90 minutes.

After a recess of one hour after the presidential election, at 7:07 p.m., the ballots were distributed in the Plenary for the next position, and 30 minutes later, the green-law legislator obtained her position as vice president.

With 31 votes in favor, Sánchez defeated its rival Natalia Díaz, from the Libertarian Movement, who reached 26 votes.

However, to everyone’s surprise, at 9:00 p.m., Mario Redondo, a member of the Christian Democratic Alliance, pointed out the illegality of the election, arguing the requirements imposed by Article 115 of the Political Constitution.

The President and Vice President of the Congress must meet the same conditions required to be President of the Republic.”

One of them is to be older than 30 years old and Sánchez is 28 years old.
