Solís washes his hands: “The BCR had to make decisions”

Costa Rican former president Luis Guillermo Solís evaded any responsibility on the decisions made regarding the cementazo scandal and pointed directly to the board of directors of the Bank of Costa Rica as the ones who had to make decisions.

According to Solís, his decision on the issue was limited to requesting the resignation of the board of directors of the BCR after receiving a report from the General Superintendence of Financial Institutions (Sugef), which “recommended taking immediate action” to avoid conflicts that will affect the Bank, despite the fact that there were three previous recommendations from the supervisory bodies to intervene in the Bank’s situation, directly regarding the behavior and actions of Paola Mora Tumminelli, then president of the Board of Directors of the BCR.

Regarding the accusations by Mónica Segnini in the show Enfoques and later in the Legislative Assembly, Solís once again appealed to the “autonomy” of the board of directors to act.
