Some associations have requested authorities to investigate the causes of death of thousands of fishes in Puntarenas beaches because it affects the marine environment.
Gladys Martínez, lawyer at Marine Biodiversity and Environment Program, declared that it is important to determine what is affecting the fishes in order to prevent this situation from happening again.
According to the lawyer, it is important to work on a solution that benefits the entire region because this species also lives in neighboring countries.
SENASA director explained that the research results will be published on February 24th since the water and fish samples are still being analyzed at the UCR and the National University.
