Storm Otto has greatly hit Costa Rica

The National Emergency Commission (CNE) reported that 135 communities along the Costa Rican territory have been affected by the rains caused by storm Otto.

In addition, national routes have different problems and, as explained by Iván Barrantes, director of the CNE, authorities have made efforts to reach communities that are isolated, mainly in the South Zone.

As reported by national authorities, there are problems on Route 2, between Buenos Aires and Palmar Sur, Route 245, in Puerto Jiménez, route 218, which is between Llano Grande and Rancho Redondo. Similarly, Route 238, from Golfito to Conte and Route 608 have been greatly affected. In addition, there are incidents on Vara Blanca route and on Bajos del Toro.

According to the data proided by the CNE, 99 communities have been affected in the South Zone, while in the Caribbean the figure is 20. Furthermore, there are 2 communities under the same conditions in the North Zone and the Central Valley.

On November 21st, it was necessary to evacuate people in Matina, Limón.
