Strike will continue: no agreement between government and unions

After more than five hours of negotiation, the government and the unions failed to reach an agreement to lay the foundations and conditions for a negotiation that would lead to the end of the indefinite strike of public employees.

The union sector denounced that it was not possible to reach an agreement because the representatives of the Executive Power were not willing to continue negotiating in the facilities of Casa Arzobispal, in downtown San José.

Despite the fact that, upon leaving the meeting, Labor Minister Steven Núñez said he was satisfied with the progress of the negotiations, union leaders say that the national strike will continue and that they will not give up their demand for the tax reform to be withdrawn from Congress.

Both parties announced that the discussion to set up a dialogue table will continue this Thursday at the Juan XXIII Social School, in Paseo Colón.
