A Colombian businessman, identified with the surnames Racines Arroyo, aka “El ingeniero” (The engineer), and designated by the United States Drug Control Administration (DEA) as a powerful drug trafficker, will spend six months in pretrial arrest.
He was arrested along with seven others, who will also be six months in prison, according to a resolution of the Criminal Court of Heredia. They were identified with the surnames: Rojas Mendiola, Racines Arroyo (woman), Oyuela Hurtado, Vergara Cortés, Alfaro Ulloa (woman), Racines Hernández and Castro Miranda.
The Deputy Prosecutor’s Office against Drug Trafficking and Related Crimes investigates them for the crime of international drug trafficking. However, two suspects named Salas Montero and Rodríguez Justavino were ordered to sign periodically and keep a fixed and updated address.
In total, 20 raids were carried out in areas of Chomes, Heredia and Osa. Weapons, drugs and ¢30 million were seized as a result of these actions.
