“Súmate” invites you to report human trafficking

“Súmate”, a prevention campaign to start on July, 25th, aims to teach people how to identify cases of human trafficking and report them.

The NGO Rahab started the campaign as part of the celebration of World Day Against Human Trafficking, on Saturday July, 30th.

The campaign will end with a march that day, at 9 am, leaving from La Merced Park to La Soledad Park in San José.

Interventions will also be conducted during the week in other parks from the Greater Metropolitan Area: Desamparados center, park Spain, San José’s Central Park and Morazán Park.

Mariliana Morales, Executive Director and Founder of Rahab Foundation, explained that victims of sex trafficking are not a statistic,

they are people who need all of us, need us to raise our voice and report this crime.”

The United Nations Organization, declared a day against human trafficking in October 2013. Trafficking is a crime that commercially and sexually exploits women, children and men.

The U.N. requires all States to act with due diligence to prevent and investigate human trafficking and punish those responsible.
