SUTEL will wait for a formal complaint to start an investigation

The Telecommunications Superintendence (SUTEL) will wait until the user affected by the alleged leak of a private call, involving Tigo Star of Costa Rica, files a complaint to start an investigation.

This was confirmed by president of SUTEL Council Gilbert Camacho Mora via email.

In the specific case of this call, we will wait for the affected person to file a complaint, because the truth is that we can’t confirm any of what has been said on social networks. Once the formal complaint has been made, SUTEL will guarantee due process according to what is established in the current legislation,

he explained.

In the call, that was posted on social networks, the user’s personal data were mentioned, which is is prohibited by the legislation. It generated an explosion of memes, mockery, and offenses, which motivated the victim to defend herself in judicial offices with a criminal and civil lawsuit against the company.
