Taxi drivers calls for protests if government does not disconnect Uber

Taxi drivers are allegedly making a “preventive call” to its members to be part of a protest in case the government does not approve the disconnection of Uber.

Rubén Vargas, representative of this union, confirmed this information to CRHoy.com and noted that they

waiting for the document to be delivered by the Presidential House on August 20th, but if it isn’t ready, and because this is a determination of the Governing Council, we will give time until the 21st. If this document does not meet the expectations of legality, we would be ratifying a protest movement for August 22nd.”

Vargas also mentioned that the situation is very tense with Uber drivers,

we have observed much aggressiveness on the part of the drivers of the pirate company. They have offended taxi drivers and nearly crash their vehicles […] For now we have been holding the situation so that this does not happen anymore. But if they are the ones who are inciting violence, perhaps someone can respond, which we do not endorse in any way.”
