The red force not only joined the national strike this Wednesday, but also went to the Contentious Administrative Court to request precautionary measures against Uber.
Rubén Vargas, General Secretary of the Union of Costa Rican Taxis, said they will request the removal of the collaborative platforms supported unanimously by the agreement of the Governing Council to “once again urge Uber and other companies operating technology platforms in the provision of the public transport service for people, to abandon their operation until the revision and/or modernization of the existing legal framework for paid transport of people is defined.”
Taxi drivers asked President Carlos Alvarado, to immediately cancel, block, and remove the operation of Uber so that it stops its illegal management, to avoid prejudice against the taxi drivers and for the sake of social peace, according to Vargas.
The executive said that Uber is an illegal service, as resolved by the Constitutional Chamber, however, this court denied having issued, so far, a criterion in that regard.
