The bill to control the number of buses entering the capital city in order to reduce traffic congestion hasn’t been read. It was planned that the project would be first applied in Desamparados, one of the most populous counties with more than 300,000 inhabitants.
A month ago, Liza Castillo was appointed as Deputy Minister of Transport and she had to continue with the strategies and plans that her predecessor Sebastián Urbina didn’t accomplish. However, this hasn’t ocurred.
Urbina didn’t fullfil the project and so far the deputy minister is a total stranger to the mayor of Desamparados, Gilbert Jiménez, because since she took office, Jiménez has not talked with her, not even by telephone.
Furthermore, Jiménez stressed that the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT) has not submitted a proposal to the Public Transport Council (CTP). According to the mayor, he even planned to help the Ministry by the end of the month. However the project is still missing a lot of things.
The streets of Desamparados are very old, therefore the project should have additional works to achieve its goals.
As consequence, the mayor plans to ask the MOPT the following:
To extend El Buen Pastor-San Rafael road.
To build more bus stops.
To extend San Antonio-Patarrá route.
To extend San Miguel-Higuito route.
