On Sunday, the National Commission of Emergencies (CNE) made a general report of the damages caused by the rains in the last days in the Pacific.
A man died after a tree fell on him on Thursday night. That is the only victim of the rains so far.
However, thousands of people were affected by floods and landslides and 21 shelters were set up for 2,793 people. Some of them are 327 refugees in eight shelters located in Paquera, Lepanto, El Roble, Barranca and Esparza. In Guanacaste, there are 13 shelters with 903 people, located in Nandayure, Hojancha, and Carrillo.
So far, the red alert is maintained in the districts of Cóbano, Lepanto, Paquera, and in Puntarenas. However, weather conditions are expected to improve in the last hours, especially since the influence of adverse phenomena has already passed.
In total, 20 cantons had floods and landslides, 79 stretches of damaged roads, and 123 communities with different impacts.
In Lepanto, Paquera and Puntarenas the water supply was affected, and in the last two, there were reports of energy and telecommunications breakdowns.
