The first day of school was full of traffic jams

In just 1 hour of the first day of school, traffic accidents increased. According to the Traffic Police report, from 6 am to 7 am there were 25 minor accidents, when the regular rate is 5 in that period.

Traffic jams also woke up early: from 4 am the struggle of hundreds of drivers started: they woke up to avoid congestion and ended up creating it. At 4:45 am, General Cañas Highway was full of cars.

There was an increase in student transport vehicles on the bridge over Virilla River and alternate routes, as it was expected,

said Mario Calderón, Director of Traffic Police.

Authorities’ recommendation is as usual: to get up early, plan your routes and don’t get stressed.

The rush, the carelessness and the lack of attention when driving are the main causes of the accidents that took place on February 6th. As a result, drivers must have a lot of patience to prevent that from happening,

added Calderón.
