At a meeting, the Plenary Court decided to leave in the Legislative Assembly’s hands the discussion of a change in the Judiciary’s pension schemes.
So they abandoned the possibility of submitting a proposal to analyze changes in pension regimes.
By doing this, the judges supported the motion presented by president of the Supreme Court Zarela Villanueva and hardly attacked the media and citizens who questioned the integrity of them as judges.
Just informing half of the news is what angers the population and generates more violence,
declared Judge Julia Varela, from Second Chamber.
That position was similar to Vice President Jose Manuel Arroyo’s, who said that he has been working 38 years in the entity without having pensions as priority.
In the Legislature there is a bill that aims to set a limit of 4.7 million colones (currently. some reach 9 million colones a month) on new pensions.
