“The LGBTI felt represented by the PAC”

The people of the LGBTI population felt represented (by the PAC) [but ] they have masks (the Government) because they have tried to divert attention from things that are happening in the country.”

This was stated by legislator Xiomara Rodríguez, from National Restoration, who used her intervention in the Legislative Plenary to criticize the Executive Power for using the issue of equal marriage to leave aside problems such as the gap in the regular budget, tax reform, infrastructure, and job creation.

Therefore, she said she will not rest until they “unmask” those who caused the deterioration in public finances as well as in other issues of national interest, because

the PAC has many masks.”

Regarding equal marriage, both Rodríguez and her colleagues in the bench have defended the traditional figure, that is, only between man and woman.

And we are waiting for the recitals of the Constitutional Chamber because, magistrates, you are re-elected here,”

warned the legislator.

Regarding this warning from Rodríguez, legislator Enrique Sánchez, requested the use of the floor to show his dissatisfaction with the legislator, because this type of threats to the magistrates on re-election period is not opportune.

Rodriguez’s intervention was due to a debate between the legislative groups to discuss the ruling of the Constitutional Chamber, released on Wednesday night, grating a period of 18 months for the legislators to approve any bill that validates same-sex marriage in the country.

However, Sánchez issued a letter on Monday to the president of the Chamber, Fernando Castillo, in order to indicate when they will issue the complete ruling, since the period of one year and a half begins from that date.

Sánchez said that the constitutional body believed this regulation would be faster through the process in the Legislative Assembly as long as it does not wait for 18 months, however, this could be complicated, taking into account the opposition of some fractions.
