In July 2016, the Municipality of San José started a road restoration program that included repaving 15-thousand-meter streets and avenues in the central districts. To this end, the city council invested $ 3 million to renovate the asphalt layer.
To reinforce this recharge, a company was hired. It started vertical and horizontal signposting in the central canton of San José. This includes almost 30,000 signals, which must comply with SIECA current regulation.
This will allow greater road safety for pedestrians and drivers. At the same time, they will repair any sign that is damaged or marks that have been erased over time.
Johnny Araya, mayor of San José, indicated that both the restored streets and those located in the central town of the city will be demarcated, to comply with law 7600 and with international standards.
According to engineer Kenneth Quesada, head of roads maintenance, it is not only going to help to improve the aesthetics of the streets, but also to order traffic. With the demarcated streets, the traffic flows in a better way and it helps to have greater pedestrian safety.
These signs will be visible both in the day and at night, as they are made of a special material and they include intermittent white and yellow lines, stop signs, among others.
