The Panamanian suspected of running a money-laundering network from La Reforma escaped from a prison in his country in November 2004. He had been serving two-homicide sentences since 1995.
The 44-year-old subject, surnamed Welch Sevillano, was part of a group of 6 inmates who escaped from La Joya jail more than 12 years ago. However, on December 17th 2015, he was captured in Costa Rica and since then, he has been detained, waiting to be extradited.
According to a report in Panamanian newspaper Día a Día, Welch and the inmates escaped from the Panamanian prison after cutting the bars of the cells, making a hole in the wall and then cutting a fence. All that occurred in the early hours of November 24th, 2004.
Prior to his capture in 2015, Welch liked to use luxurious cars and lived in exclusive Central Valley residences.
