The price of vehicular technical revisions (RITEVE) will increase by 1,000 colones, in order to finance a new kind of vehicle emissions test.
The cost for a technical revision for a standard vehicle on average will reach to 10,390 colones.
According to deputy minister of transportation, Sebastián Urbina the revision fee for standard vehicles will go up to 1,250 colones in the next two years.
The revenues will be used to improve emissions measurement, by checking car’s performance when pressure is being put on its tires.
The new test will be required only for vehicles that haven’t been categorized for their emission levels.
Authorities are still calculating the exact amount of fees, but is expected they will officially be published this month.
