After a relatively calm morning, the volcano Turrialba resumed emission of ashes on Monday afternoon, according to the Vulcanologic and Seismologic Observatory of Costa Rica (OVISCORI for its acronym in Spanish).
OVISCORI reported that the main emanations took place at 10:30 am, 1:35 pm, 2:30 pm and 2:45 pm. The columns of ashes reached 1640.4 feet. The report said that fumes have been less dense than before.
Starting on 3:00 pm, volcanic activity ostensibly increased. By then, the volcano produced more energetic emissions and the fume reached up to 3280.8 feet.
On the afternoon, the main ashes emissions were at 3:09 pm, 3:30 pm and 4:01 pm. Again at 6:00 pm it was reported a strong new emission.
However, seismic activity has been lower than previous days, informed OVISCORI.
Ashes emitted this Monday fell over San Isidro del Guaco, Turrialba, Paraíso, Cartago, Aljauela, Curridabat, and Tibás.
