The authorities of the United States deported a Costa Rican man who broke the immigration law and who also had a conviction for sexual crimes in the national territory.
According to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service, the Costa Rican was deported last Monday.
This previously-condemned sex offender was an obvious danger to the community that justified the expulsion from the US and the period of imprisonment imposed by his country of origin. The valiant efforts of ICE officers should be praised for locating, arresting, and removing this person from the United States,”
said John Tsoukaris, director of the field office of the Newark, NJ office.
According to the US authorities, the man named Cerdas Molina was convicted of sexual assault against a minor in Costa Rica in 2016. He was sentenced to six years in prison. However, without serving the sentence, Cerdas escaped to the United States in March 2017, using a valid 2010 visa.
The Immigration Office explained that Costa Rica issued an arrest warrant in 2018 and ERO Newark deportation officers arrested him on May 13th, 2019 for immigration violations.
Then, on May 29th, 2019, an immigration judge ordered his expulsion from the United States, to purge the sentence imposed in the country.
