A 25-year old woman can’t breastfeed her newborn son as a consequence of taking antiretrovirals to prevent HIV infection after being raped. The mother, who lives in poverty, doesn’t have enough money to buy processed milk to feed the infant.
The alleged perpetrator, identified as Cháves Ramirez, was serving a sentence for aggravated robbery. Prior to be released on parole, the convict spent 9 months in prison.
The attack occurred on May, 28th at 3:00 a.m. The suspect also allegedly had stolen some belongings of the humble dwelling.
The woman, who has two other children, lives in Guácimo in a precarious house that does not have water or electricity.
Staff of the judiciary and from the hospital Guápiles are collecting money to buy supplies for the woman’s children.
According to the authorities, this would be the fifth case of criminal recidivism among convicts released on parole.
