Minister of Finance Helio Fallas appointed Wilson Céspedes as new Director General of Customs. He is an economist, who has 14 years of experience in the customs field. He took office yesterday.
The appointment comes after the former hierarch’s official termination of employment. However, Benito Coghi and Deputy Director of Customs Roy Chacón indicated that some officials had been dismissed.
The former Director General of Customs said that employees had been informed about the situation and that he was transferred to a project in the Center of Investigation and Training Tax.
An official statement from the Ministry of Finance indicated that after the termination, Coghi had succeeded in improving the rates of collection, risk management and trade facilitation through the reliable operator program.
The new hierarch pointed out that he hopes to strengthen the institution and the level of computer controls, risk management, audit, etc.
