These are the areas where ash fall has been reported

Guadalupe, Moravia, Tibás, La Silvia and surroundings of Turrialba are some of the areas where ash fall has been reported following the constant eruptions of Turrialba Volcano.

This Wednesday, the ash plume reached 500 meters above the crater. According to the Vulcanological Observatory of the National University (OVSICORI), the activity is maintained, and, as the winds blow towards the Southwest, it could affect other communities.

At the moment there is no report of people with respiratory problems or smell of sulfur.

The ash can cause:

Irritation, runny nose and sore throat.
Lung problems such as bronchitis.
Breathing difficulties, panting.
Sensation of a foreign body in the eyes.
Sticky discharge from the eyes or tearing.
Acute conjunctivitis
Irritation and redness of the skin.
Secondary infections in the skin by scratching.

Due to the ash alert, some airlines decided to delay five flights from Juan Santamaría International Airport.
