Trade unionists protest against public employment project

A small group of unionists protested in front of the Legislature against the bill that seeks to limit wage bonuses in the public sector, even though the initiative was not convened by the Executive to extraordinary sessions.

The demonstrators were activists from the Unitary Union and Costa Rican Union Block (BUSSCO) and from the National Union of Employees of the Fund and Social Security (UNDECA).

The event took place on Calle 17, which was closed by units of the security forces.

Luis Chavarría, Secretary General from UNDECA, denied that the protest was against the initiative that seeks to regulate wage incentives in the public sector, despite the content of the banners and posters carried by some of the protesters.

Chavarría said the demonstration was against the development model the country is following and to force legislators to discuss bills that put an end to tax evasion.
