Traffic jams decreased during the World Car-Free Day

During the World Car-Free Day, Waze application recorded a 13% decrease in reports of traffic jams.

This was informed in a Minerva company’s analysis conducted on September 22nd. During that day, several politicians joined the challenge to leave their vehicles at home and collaborate with the environment while facilitating transport on national roads.

For instance, during the fifth day of the week, 23,601 users usually join Waze, however last Thursday only 21,964 users were reported, which represent a 7% reduction. In addition, normally there are 1,735 notifications of traffic congestions on Thursdays, however on September 22nd, 1,503 alerts were issued: it meant a decrease of 13%.

According to Mezger, they aim to institutionalize the World Car-Free Day and it is intended that in the coming months related projects can be conducted.
