The Directorate General of Customs, from the Ministry of Finance, recovered ¢1,945 million as a result of voluntary payment from nine importers that were audited in 2015 and 2016 by the entity, for not properly declaring the payment of license fees, also known as royalties.
According to the Ministry of Finance, these companies approached the customs administration and accepted their debt to the state. They also provided important information for audits, which helped the success of the findings in audited determinations.
Benito Coghi, director general of customs, said that by assuming their commitment to Customs these companies will be able to obtain favorable benefits, such as greater ease to import goods to the country and reduction of time in the customs operations.
Coghi said companies should bear in mind the laws and provisions for proper and fair statement of the value attached to the economic reality of business transactions.
