The South Pacific of Costa Rica is the most affected region by tropical wave number 40, which crosses the country since Thursday afternoon.
Daniel Poleo, meteorologist from the National Meteorological Institute (IMN,) indicated that at this point there are already reports of heavy downpours, an electrical storm, and floods.
Heavy rains are also reported in the northern part of Guanacaste, the western zone of Liberia, and the coastal sectors of the Nicoya Peninsula. In the Central Valley, with less intensity, rainfall is reported in Escazú, Pavas, San Antonio de Heredia, El Coyol de Alajuela, and Santa Bárbara de Heredia.
Poleo assured that the North Zone and the Caribbean are “excluded” from the impact of this tropical wave.
The National Commission of Emergencies (CNE) issued a green alert for the Central Valley and the Central and South Pacific due to this phenomenon.
