TSE and OAS signed an observation agreement for the elections

On Tuesday afternoon, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) and the Organization of American States (OAS) signed the observation agreement for the national elections next Sunday. The document was signed by the president of the TSE, Luis Antonio Sobrado and by Andrés Pastrana, former president of Colombia, who is the head of the OAS mission in Costa Rica.

This agreement guarantees the OAS observers the security conditions, free access to information, travel within the national territory and entry into polling stations,”

said the politician.

Pastrana will be accompanied by 14 people, specialists in electoral matters that will monitor the normal course of the elections on February 4th.

During these days, the OAS mission will be meeting with the political parties, TSE authorities, as well as civil society and the government. The OAS has been present in Costa Rican elections as an observer since 1962.

The mission arrived in the country on January 25, which is made up of people of 13 nationalities and will be present in various sectors of the country.
