Turrialba volcano erupted again on May 12th, at 1:29 in the morning, launching an ash and gas column of approximately 2 kilometers.
Eliécer Duarte, volcanologist from Observatorio Vulcanológico y Sismológico de Costa Rica (OVSICORI) stated that although it was pretty large, this eruption doesn’t compare to the ones from previous months.
“It was an isolated eruption that produced ashes, blocks and pyroclastic material that fell into the cachectic cavity”.
The scientist says there are reports of ash fall in Moravia, Guadalupe, La Uruca, Tibás, Coronado, Tres Ríos, Heredia, among other areas.
