Turrialba Volcano registered two considerable explosions on Thursday, according to the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI).
The first occurred at 5:30 a.m., whose ash and gases plume rose more than 500 meters above the crater.
The second event was recorded at 8:25 a.m. and generated a gas plume that rose more than 700 meters above the active crater.
Although the ash fall had not been reported, there was a sulfur odor in Pacayas de Alvarado.
According to readers’ reports on Facebook, the events were observed from different points in Heredia and Cartago.
