Turrialba Volcano erupts again

At around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Turrialba Volcano resumed its activity, with an ash-expelling eruption.

According to Maarten de Moor, a volcanologist from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI), the eruptive column rises 500 meters above the crater’s height and the winds are blowing north.

There are still no reports of ash fall, nor the smell of sulfur perceived due to this new eruption, which appears after several weeks of calm in the colossus.

As for Poás Volcano, some people have reported smoke coming out of the crater since 5 a.m. However, there are no expert reports on the activity.
