On September 22nd, after 3:00 am, Turrialba volcano erupted again. This time, however, the activity was of great magnitude.
According to Eliecer Duarte, volcanologist from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) a column of volcanic material was expelled and it reach 3000 meters high and it is still in progress. It also released blocks of incandescent material, ashes and gases.
The wind is blowing the ashes toward populated areas.
The ashes is probably reaching populated areas. Throughout this period, this has been the most important eruption,
declared Duarte.
On the other hand, Mauricio Mora, specialist from the National Seismological Network (RSN) indicated that the eruption has not diminished so far, and incandescent materials are being expelled.
