On October 10th, Turrialba volcano had 2 large eruptions, as recorded by the equipment of the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI). However, it is unknown the ash plume height.
Eliecer Duarte, volcanologist at OVSICORI, declared that the entity could not determine the level of eruptions, because the area was cloudy.
We think it was important because it left a broad tremor mark. There were 2 eruptions from 10:00 pm to 11:30 pm. We do not have more details because it was so cloudy and we didn’t receive any images,
explained Duarte.
After the events, the amplitude of the tremor considerably reduced.
According to Duarte, the ashes from the eruptions could affect the Central Valley.
