Turrialba volcano has increased its activity in the last couple of days, as reported by the National Seismological Network (RSN) and the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI).
The main eruption, with outflow of incandescent material, occurred at 12:09 am on Saturday, but according to the institution, the emanation of material -gas and ash- started at 6:00 pm on Friday.
The images published by the RSN show the way the material fell on the eastern edge of the crater.
The height of the plume reached about 300 meters and was dispersed by the winds towards the west-northwest, according to data from the National Meteorological Institute (IMN) and the images of the cameras of the RSN located on the top of the volcano and different sectors around it,”
was the official report.
The seismic activity is characterized by volcanic tremor (internal tremors) of low amplitude.
