The Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks of the State of Mexico (COPRISEM) is conducting an investigation to a company due to a picture of 2 employees apparently urinating on chilies that were in canning process.
COPRISEM has seized more than 12 thousand cans of chili La Costeña to analyze them and determine whether they have urine or not. Apparently, it all happened on July 2nd.
If there is any irregularity, the company will have to pay a fine exceeding 800,000 pesos (more than 20 million colones) and undergo a strict sanitary control.
According to newspaper Excelsior, the employees were fired after publishing the photo on social networks. It was supposed to be a “joke”.
Rafael Celorio, director of the company, and other representatives held a press conference where they declared that cellphones are prohibited in the packing plant. In addition, the two young men had little time working for them.
“Our legal department is reviewing it all, but the greatest punishment for them is losing their jobs. These men were working for a prestigious company that is 93 years old,” stated Celorio.
