Two-ton whale stranded on island of the Gulf of Nicoya

A humpback whale of about 2 tons died on a small island on the southwest side of the Gulf of Nicoya.

According to Alejandro Sotela, from the National Coast Guard Service, they first received some photographs showing the cetacean floating in the vicinity of Paquera, so it is presumed that the animal has been dead for several days.

They later received a video where the mammal is seen stranded on Isla Jesusita.

At this moment they are in conversations with SINAC and SENASA to determine which is the best alternative to move the whale, since its decomposition and weight complicate the task.
