El Salvador is the fourth country in Central America where the Uber transport technology platform comes into operation.
Contrary to what happens in Costa Rica, Uber began to operate in this country with the support of the Government.
According to the company, in meetings prior to the implementation of the platform, Salvadoran Vice President Óscar Ortiz said they are sure that Salvadorans will be able to benefit from all the advantages that these types of companies bring.
He added that the Government hoped that Uber’s operation would represent new economic opportunities and that the investment would be a success.
The first country to use Uber’s services was Panama and then Costa Rica. In December it also began to operate in Guatemala.
Company estimates indicate that in Costa Rica some 16,000 associates benefit from self-employment through this application.
Costa Rica is one of the few countries where there is no clear government position on this platform.
