What is the means of public transport that you use most often? According to a recent study conducted by the Institute of Social Studies in Population (IDESPO) of the National University, most people take the bus.
According to the report 2018 Perception on aspects of the conjuncture and political cultures in Costa Rica, Uber is the second favorite public service, with just over three and a half years of operations.
More than one thousand people were surveyed by means of cell phone calls from August 31st to September 10th, 2018 and the results were revealed that passengers always or almost always use transport services in the following order: bus (469), Uber (240), pirate taxis (166), red taxi (116), and the train (14).
The interviewers also asked how satisfied people are with the service they receive: 97% of Uber users say they are totally satisfied, followed by buses with a favorable 72.3% of opinions and the last place was for “pirate taxis” with only 16%.
The researchers also found that 85% of the sample knows about the “Uber vs. taxis” conflict, and although they still prefer the service of the transport self-supply community, they ask for it to be regulated.
