The Costa Rican Union of Chambers and Associations of the Private Business Sector (UCCAEP) hopes that President-elect Carlos Alvarado will begin to work quickly on national agreements to boost the country’s development.
Franco Arturo Pacheco, president of the Union assured that the national productive sector is enthusiastic to work with the future government, but the country is facing many challenges. The 2018-2020 Decalogue of UCCAEP and the National Strategy of Sustainable Enterprises will be delivered to the president-elect on April 19th.
We congratulate Carlos Alvarado, and we remind him what we expressed to both candidates at the various meetings prior to the elections: that we are willing to work hand in hand with his team, and as soon as possible. It is necessary to materialize various projects that are required to get Costa Rica to produce, because there is no time to keep postponing decisions,”
said Pacheco.
The government is obliged to reduce the high fiscal deficit and the level of indebtedness of the country; hence the private productive sector trusts that the members of the economic sector of the elected government will achieve the measures announced in the campaign.
For the business sector, a reduction in public spending is crucial, through a reform of the public employment system, in addition to controlling spending on State transfers, reform legislation to eliminate specific destinations of public funds, leaving the efficient allocation of resources in the hands of the Government.
Carlos Alvarado obtained more than 60% of the votes on April 1st, thus ousting his opponent Fabricio Alvarado, of the National Restoration Party, who won 39% of the votes.
